High-speed air flotation utilizes the property that the solubility of air in water changes with pressure. Through specific equipment, air is pressurized and dissolved in water to form saturated air-dissolved water. When the air-dissolved water is released under normal pressure, the air will escape from the water in the form of tiny bubbles. These tiny bubbles have a high specific surface area and surface energy, and can quickly absorb impurities such as suspended particles, organic matter, and grease in the water.

Since the density of bubbles is much smaller than that of water, under the action of buoyancy, the bubbles with adsorbed impurities will quickly rise to the water surface to form a scum layer. The scum is removed by scraping equipment, thereby achieving solid-liquid separation and achieving the purpose of purifying water quality.

In river purification, high-speed air flotation technology also has some unique advantages. On the one hand, it can quickly and effectively remove suspended solids and some dissolved organic matter in rivers, significantly improving the transparency and appearance of the water body. On the other hand, high-speed air flotation equipment usually has higher processing efficiency and larger processing capacity, and can adapt to different scales of river management needs. In order to improve the air flotation effect, some auxiliary measures can also be adopted. For example, adding an appropriate amount of flocculant to the water can cause the tiny particles in the water to aggregate into larger particles, which are more easily adsorbed by the bubbles. At the same time, reasonable adjustment of the operating parameters of the air flotation equipment, such as dissolved air pressure, reflux ratio, air flotation time, etc., can also optimize the air flotation effect.
